Although the idea of going completely vegan doesn’t appeal to me, I like to cook plant-based meals for my vegan friends when they stop by for dinner. I respect their values and lifestyle choices and try to please them with healthy and clean meals. Except for excluding meat, dairy, eggs, and fish for these meals, I was surprised to find out that some foods I thought are vegan-safe are actually not. Therefore I had to find a suitable vegan-friendly alternative for these.
As anyone in the food business knows, success is about adopting the right strategy backed by a great deal of planning. Though usually most people focus on the big picture, it’s the smallest details that count the most.
The perfect example for this would be in going green. There’s more to this than keeping up the pace with trends considering it has to do with the environment as well as saving up more money along the way. Read More

There’s nothing quite like having a hot lunch during winter, or a cold snack during summer, whether you’re at work, university, school or out in the wild. It’s a biological fact that male and female bodies are different. Being a woman, I can easily say that female bodies need more of certain things, like for instance sugar, spice, and everything nice. Being in your 20s and having to change your eating habits is easier said than done. However, after I was diagnosed with MS, I decided to change my life forever. I am not going to die sooner than anyone else (unless a piano falls on my head), therefore, I made a deal with myself that my life needs a fresh and healthy perspective. However, this new relationship with a healthier lifestyle meant breaking up with my other disease – a crazy addiction for eating sweets.
After reading some frightening information about sugar and how bad it can be for the overall health, I had to find a decent substitute. My research was done when I came across Stevia. I found out that this is a herb that originates from Paraguay (Central America), where the natives used it for more than 200 years. In order to produce Stevia packs, manufactures simply boil the herb and extract the liquid that is later on used to create Stevia packs. If you are a coffee addict like myself, you can easily find Stevia packs to make your coffer healthier and sweet. However, I do not use Stevia for my coffee alone, I also use it to bake cakes, muffins and of course cookies!
If you look at the bigger picture, the number one benefit of Stevia is to eliminate sugar and all forms of sugar such as dextrose, fructose and glucose from your diet. Since I have started using Stevia, I’ve lost around 15 kg and I even fee better in regard to my disease, therefore I decided to share my experience and explain to you why you should immediately find stevia packs and integrate them in your daily diet!
Now that you know something more about the origins of my favourite superhero – The Super Sugar Substitute Stevia, may I interest you in showing you some of my favourite and most delicious Stevia recipes?

Whether we want to admit it or not, we are a population of sugar addicts. The average Australian consumes more than 27 teaspoons of sugar daily and the recommended daily intake (according to World Health Organization) for adults with normal BMI is 6 teaspoons. It seems as if we are completely out of control and if we do not do something about it soon, we risk obesity, oral problems and bad eating habits.
Luckily, there is a way to decrease sugar intake without feeling deprived. There are many natural sweeteners that taste better than sugar and have none of the side-effects mentioned. One such is xylitol.
This natural sugar replacement is as sweet as regular sugar, but has considerably less calories than sugar and is way healthier. It belongs to the group of sugar alcohols and is naturally formed in many fruits and vegetables such as oats, sugar cane, berries, mushrooms, etc., however, it can also be extracted from birch trees, corn husks or any other plant that naturally contains xylitol. It is available in the form of crystallized white powder and you can order xylitol Australia wide from almost any reputable and well-equipped online health food shop.
As a complex carbohydrate, xylitol is slowly absorbed in the body; it has no effect on blood sugar or insulin levels making it safe for diabetics to use. It is also a great sugar alternative for people with weight-loss problem. It is low in calories and reduces the risk of obesity, a disease of the modern day which causes digestive problems and slows down the metabolism.
Furthermore, unlike sugar, xylitol improves dental health. The cavity-causing bacteria in the mouth feed on sugar creating strong acids which dissolve minerals from tooth enamel making it weak and vulnerable to cavities. Xylitol helps prevent the growth of harmful bacteria, therefore minimising the risks of tooth decay and gum disease. Besides having anti-bacterial features, xylitol is widely known for its probiotic properties – it can help boost the production of good bacteria in human body important for metabolic health. Moreover, it can protect bones and reduce the risk of osteoporosis.
Some studies even show that this sugar substitute has anti-ageing properties; it can help increase the production of collagen which improves skin elasticity. This finding may be one of the main reasons growing number of women order xylitol Australia wide.
A little bit of sugar won’t hurt, but exceeding recommended sugar intake on a daily basis can increase blood sugar levels, increase risk of cardiovascular disease, and make you frustrated and stressed. It also affects the immune system – it raises the insulin levels and prevents the body from absorbing important minerals and vitamins. Moreover, harmful bacteria and yeast feed on sugar what can create imbalance that makes the body more vulnerable to infections and illnesses. So, instead of intoxicating your body with sugar, switch to xylitol.
